【 용 례 】 조합원의 제명 시 조합은 총회개최일 10일전에 당해 조합원에게 제명사유를 통지하고 총회에서 변명할 기회를 주어야 한다 In case of the expulsion of partners, a partnership shall notify reasons for such expulsion to them within ten days before the date of the general meeting, thereby giving an opportunity to defend themselves at the general meeting.

【 용 례 】 검사 또는 사법경찰관은 판사의 심문을 신청할 수 있음을 말함에 있어 피의자가 판사의 심문을 받는 경우에는 범죄 사실과 구속의 사유에 대하여 변명을 할 수 있음을 알려야 한다 In stating that the suspect or other person is eligible to apply for an examination by a judge, the public prosecutor or judicial police officer shall inform the suspect that he/she may defend a justification for the conduct constituting the crime and the causes for detention if the suspect is examined.

【 용 례 】 피심의원은 자기의 자격심사에 관한 회의에 출석하여 변명은 할 수 있으나 의결에는 참가할 수 없다 A member to be examined may be present and speak for himself at a meeting for examination of his/her qualifications, but may not participate in a resolution.

【 용 례 】 피심의원은 지방의회의 다른 의원으로 하여금 회의에 참석하여 변명하게 할 수 있다 The member under exanimation may have other members of the local council attend the meeting to present justifiable grounds on his/her behalf. 

【 용 례 】 환경부장관, 시·도지사 또는 시장·군수·구청장은 폐기물 처리에 관한 조치명령을 하고자 할 때에는 미리 당해 명령을 받을 자에게 그 이유를 통지하여 변명 및 유리한 증거를 제출할 기회를 주어야 한다. 다만, 생활환경보전상 긴급을 요하는 경우에는 그러하지 아니하다 The Minister of Environment, Mayor/Do governor or head of Si/Gun/ Gu shall, in case he/she intends to issue an order for measures on waste diposal, notify in advance the person who is to receive the relevant order of the reasons therefor, and give him/her an opportunity to explain himself or to present any evidence favorable to him: Provided, That this shall not apply to the case where it is urgent for preserving the living environment.
